Clearly shows that apple fears HTC. Lets face it HTC and Google are blowing up. Think about it. Every iPhone looks exactly the same. Where as to with Android, you have a wide variety of selection.

Why is everybody arguing about this in detail?

its simple..Apple set the foundation,Android picked it up and slam dunked that bitch..

    thats it..Android is the shit.

plus if i drop my Hero (which i have tons of times..on concrete) the screen dosent shatter into a million pieces like the iPhone’s pussy ass..

Microsoft & IBM had nothing to do with the mouse or keyboard inventions. in 1868 Christopher Sholes invented the keyboard. Douglas Engelbart invented the mouse. Douglas Engelbart is the director of his company, Bootstrap Institute. They didn’t make the inventions in any company’s name that I’m aware of but rather Douglas did make a patent for the mouse. Wikipedia is useful for something after all :-)

  5. 5. FlareOfDawn Says:

Some people may think the patents are stupid is because they are only conceiving it to be the only way to create something because it is all that is as of yet. Thinking it is a “broad idea”.

For instance, if in the beginning of time you created a color called Red… you may think that is the only color that could ever be. It would be inconceivable at the moment that any other color could exist.

What if Windows would’ve sued apple in the 80’s for putting out a personal pc???? The keyboard, mouse, and other user interface devices were first used by Microsoft and IBM… They easily could’ve sued Apple for STEALING their technology…

  7. 7. dtownhuztla Says:

This is just plain stupid.. Its called evolution of technology… You cant sue another company for upgrading their equipment.Imagine if Nokia wouldve sued samsung or ericson back in the 90’s for using similar interfaces… All companies adopt ideas and improvise them in their products!!! Theres always going to be competition… And it has always been there!

    maciindrew, becareful of your words…

Don’t always think your country is the best…

  9. 9. maciindrew Says:

I just provided a link to all of Apple’s patents, no great magic in doing that. It was easy to create…

  10. 10. maciindrew Says:

No, if they conflict, a patent cannot be granted, so Apple clearly owns their 7300+ inventions fair and square.

Not sure about emoticons, search for it at the patent database and see if anyone owns it.

  11. 11. maciindrew Says:

no, Apple created the foundation you use today. you obviously don’t use the xerox foundation. Yes, the ideas of Xerox helped, (which Apple paid to see) but it was Apple that made the mouse, GUI, ethernet, laser printing a reality.

Why are you so bitter about Apple?

  12. 12. mkjackson Says:

Um… you said “create the foundation”. If you mean that they took the foundation from PARC and built on it then fine but the matter of fact is that there is nothing that Apple (or any other technology company) did by itself.

  13. 13. mkjackson Says:

Jeez man, I looked at that snipr link you put up and I got to tell you that after reading over a couple of these I can’t believe that they can claim patents on things that are not only vague but probably conflict with tons of other patents. Yes, I actually read a few, not just looking at the titles.

Thanks though because before I just didn’t trust the patents office. Now I have reasons. About 7300 of them with a nifty little link to them.

X-D (Hey you think I can patent that emoticon?)

  14. 14. maciindrew Says:

PARC was simply an idea center down the road from Apple… but politically, Xerox couldn’t use what they created so Apple agreed to pay them $2 million for 3 visits.

Apple never used any PARC technology, but Apple did create the GUI you and I use today. Xerox had many things wrong, many things unfinished, but Steve was smart enough to fix them and move society forward.

Why are questioning the history of computing?

  15. 15. mkjackson Says:

    X-D “7300″…
You’re telling the world that you can go over 7300 individual patents. You either work for the patent office or copied that from another website. I love the patent thing though, they’ll patent things that shouldn’t even be allowed to be patented (like DNA patterns that belong to humanity just because a company discovered it).

The Europeans must have just discovered a completely unpopulated continent to populate then! You know, bigoted know-it-all’s like yourself really make me laugh but the scarier thing is that you can sometimes be so convincing.

Wow… I’m never using an operating system that I use almost exclusively with the exception of for gaming for which I keep a spare partition. Then again, I’m sure that if you’re a gamer then you can relate!

Did Steve Jobs also create the Palo Alto Research Center? I can’t believe it! X-D

Keep ‘em coming. I love arrogant fanboys like yourself.

  20. 20. maciindrew Says:

Thanks, I’ve been at this for 33 years so I know the industry from every direction.

But no, everyone in the industry agrees Bill Gates is the biggest white collar criminal the world has ever known. He hasn’t created a single thing, everything is stolen through legal contracts (see BASIC, DOS, Windows, NT, etc)

He comes from a family of lawyers, so he knows nothing about computing.

    Google: Preston Gates

That’s his dad and grandfather, they were scammers, not computer people.

    Now you know!

  21. 21. maciindrew Says:

What? Apple bought Steve’s NeXT company in 1996, so they never dipped into the opensource community.

You are just bitter of companies that are honest, hard working and successful…

  22. 22. maciindrew Says:

No, I’m always correct, so it seems you don’t do research.

Apple sells about 7 million iPhones every 90 days, so sure… you are going to have a few thousand users in rural areas and a few large cities that have minor problems. Most of that has been resolved since AT&T has invested bilions to catch up with Apple’s success.

Yes, the iPhone is incredibly well done, so its popularity has caused some growing pains, but that has be resolved so you can now get an iPhone.

  23. 23. mkjackson Says:

@maciindrew WOW! You know, if I had read this post first I would at least know that you are DEFINITELY either a troll, a pathological liar, making things up as you go along, totally misinformed or any combination of the previously mentioned and would not have bothered with my earlier post! X-D

Everyone I know that owns an iFone hates their coverage and I’m in a major city (some call it the capital of the world) so there are no excuses for either Apple or AT&T there…

    Thx, I needed a laugh!

  24. 24. mkjackson Says:

@maciindrew If Mac is so great on it’s own technology then why did it have to dip into the open source well to update it’s OS (OSX is really BSD Unix in Apple clothing)?

Just because they did a great job with the iPhone doesn’t mean they created the market. As for the patents, I wouldn’t trust US patent law any more than Fox News/CNN.

Apple’s great at making things n00b friendly & pretty but to imply that they themselves haven’t copied other people’s homework along the way simply untrue.

You win: the Debate, 100% you had some good points, so i have to say I’m just defencive because I think bill is better morally. I do thank you extremely for the YouTube information. It will be helpful in the future
