There are 3 kinds of iphone models available today, not including those differentiated only by flash drive size, and two of them are currently on the market. Then there are a few models of iPod Touch floating around as well. All in all, there are tens of millions of these touch screen gizmos in the pockets of people in the United States, Canada, and all over the world. The vast majority of iPhone owners download at least a few apps now and then. These days however, many of them are left questioning whether or not they still have access to the best of the best.

The new iphone 3gs though, after all, is sprinkled with several new features. That means 3GS owners can do things that 3G owners can’t. 3G owners, in the same way, have capabilities that original iPhone owners don’t. Does this mean that the best of the app store is only available to people with the better features? Let’s take a closer look after we take a quick peek at the cost of the 3 different model iPhones.
The original iPhone was relatively expensive for a phone, what made thing worse for users in the usa was the lack of availability of iphone insurance products, as Apple wanted customers to take out icare products, so stopped the network carriers from offering i phone insurance. The 3G came along at a slightly higher price and became a big hit as people wanted the faster web connection offered by the 3G model. The real price hike came with the launch of the 3GS iPhone, in the UK, the 3GS purchase price jumped up to around GBP 700 for the 32 gb model. Luckily, the iphone insurance market is strong, allowing uk customers to take out stand alone insurance without the apple icover.

Remembering back, when you get right down to it, so long as they’ve taken advantage of the new upgrades along the way, all iPhone owners run the same operating system. That means that from a basic software point of view, everything is exactly the same across the board. What changed in the 3G from the original was a faster network, a slightly better camera and GPS. From the 3G to the 3GS came a compass, a video camera, a larger RAM and voice controls.
With the above in mind, you’ll find that most apps work across the board. Remember, the best iPhone apps deal with very basic things, at least in terms of iPhone capabilities. Some are games that require little more than use of the touch screen and accelerometer. Others are word processors or other kinds of office tools that, again, just want the touch screen so you can enter data.

There are apps that like to communicate with the net and other iPhones in some way, most of the iphones do that trick. Even with the lesser Edge network it doesn’t matter because most intercommunicating apps use the Bluetooth or WiFi. Even then, very few apps seem to mess around with this at all, except for games.
What you’ll find is that the only apps that are available for one iPhone and not the other are the ones that specifically require features that certain phones don’t have. Navigational apps will require an iPhone that at least uses GPS. Video camera apps will, obviously, require the iPhone that has video capture capabilities.

Really, all the iphone apps get round the minimum requirments. For instance, a new highly sought out app feature is augmented reality. This requires the iPhone to have a compass. The apps that offer augmented reality still work on the other phones, just without that extra capability. For the most part, that won’t really make the app much less functional, just a little less cool. The bottom line is that, for some people, the best features come from the latest iPhones, but the best apps can be used by anyone.

The ultimate in mobile phone customization is the creation and utilization of mobile ringtones. This has become increasingly popular among iPhone and iPhone 3g users mainly because users create ringtones based off of their existing library. The popular iPhone by Apple, has a built-in music library known as iTunes which allows users to download music and video files via their computer or the internet. Once the files are in the iTunes music library, users can then create personal ringtones using whatever song or sound file they wish.

But here is where it gets tricky! iTunes requires users to purchase the ringtone sequence even if they already own the song. So how is it possible to get free ringtones? Well to solve that problem there are two fairly well-known applications that are used, iToner and iPhoneRingtoneMaker. iToner is a ringtone manager for Mac users, while iPhoneRingtoneMaker is run using Windows. Both applications cost $15, hopefully less than the amount of ringtones users are planning on uploading. According to a recent article posted by Wired on September 12, 2008, the most recent iTunes update appeared to have crippled iPhoneRingtoneMaker for some users however, iToner seemed to remain functional.

Aside from purchasing those applications, users can still pay a single dollar and avoid the entire headache associated with trying to get free ringtones. With that said, it has been my experience that many users find it difficult to set their desired ringtones. A simple step by step guide can be found in AppCraver’s troubleshooting section with information on how to create ringtones on the iPhone.

If you feel that paying a dollar per ringtone just isn’t cutting it, check for updates on AppCraver to see if current applications still work or to find new applications that will let users create free ringtones.
